ABSTRACT

In this research work, an algorithm using the wavelet packet supported fast kurtogram and decision rules has been introduced for the identification and classification of power quality (PQ) disturbances. The features are extracted from fast kurtogram and an envelope of filtered voltage signal and amplitude spectrum of squared envelope. The proposed algorithm can be implemented for the recognition of the simple nature PQ disturbance. The investigated simple nature PQ disturbances include pure sine wave, voltage sag, voltage swell, momentary interruption, harmonics, oscillatory transient (OT), impulsive transient (IT), notches, and spikes. The proposed study has been performed using the MATLAB software.
