ABSTRACT

Plants are a rich source of many essential products for mankind from since time immemorial. From long back, aromatic plants and their essential oils have been using in perfumery, food, flavorings, cosmetics, therapies, pharmaceutical, agricultural and related industries. Essential oils and their available chemical constituents have antimicrobial, antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer and many more therapeutic properties. The increasing demand of essential oils of aromatic plants in the domestic and international market shows very good opportunities for its cultivation, processing, value addition and use as fragrant raw materials in the cosmetic, food, perfumery and pharmaceutical industries.
