ABSTRACT

With technological advances and regulatory developments, the adoption of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in many areas is expected to grow exponentially in the future. One of the most promising applications for UAVs is interaction with the ground. In the past decade, the study of air-ground cooperation as a basic concept has attracted more and more attention. With the development of the current air-ground cooperation system, UAVs will play an important role in the function of the system. This chapter investigates the latest advances in UAVs and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) and their role in current air-ground cooperation systems. In addition, existing UAV-UGV cooperative systems under study are classified. The application and possible security problems of monitoring, logistics, communication, and mobile edge computing are also summarized.
