ABSTRACT

Eucalyptus globulus is a medicinal plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. This species is used in traditional medicine to treat several pathologies, such as diabetes and microbial infections. Research findings showed that essential oils (EOs) and eucalyptus extracts exhibit multiple biological effects, particularly antidiabetic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities. These effects are linked to the presence of different bioactive molecules, such as terpenoids, flavonoids, and phenolic acids. In the present work, we will discuss the recent advances concerning bioactive compounds and biological properties of EOs and extracts of E. globulus.
