ABSTRACT

Introduction In the assessment of a diagnostic procedure, not only clinical arguments such as diagnostic accuracy or patient safety but also economic aspects are of importance. There are several types of economic analysis available for the evaluation of health care technology.1 In cost-effectiveness analysis, costs are related to the effect of a particular treatment. In fertility care, an acceptable measure for effectiveness is pregnancy or ongoing pregnancy. More recently, a shift has been made in which the effectiveness is expressed in terms of live birth rate.
