ABSTRACT
Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels from preexisting vessels by degradation of vessel basement membrane, endothelial cell sprouting, bridging, and intussusception. Normally, in a healthy adult, angiogenesis is limited to sites of vessel injury and to the female reproductive tract; however, pathological angiogenesis occurs in several disease processes including degenerative eye disease, atherosclerosis, and malignancies including Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) (1-4).
