ABSTRACT
The first part of this chapter reviews the literature about smoking cessation with nicotine-replacement therapy (NRT) and bupropion in healthy smokers. Readers familiar with the smoking cessation literature can skip the first part. The last part focuses on identification of smokers with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and smoking cessation trials in this group of patients, ending with a recommendation about smoking cessation for COPD patients.
