It is unlikely that VITATOPS will be able to provide information on patients with stroke due to carotid stenosis. Therefore, until future clinical trials confirm or refute this hypothesis, the management of hyperhomocyst(e)inemia in association with carotid stenosis must remain speculative, although meta-analyses are available (64,65).
