Female urethral reconstruction

There are three approaches to urethral reconstruction: primary closure, vaginal wall flaps, and bladder flaps (anterior or posterior). While both vaginal wall flaps and bladder wall flaps successfully create neourethras, continence is only achieved in 50% of women undergoing anterior or posterior bladder wall flaps.
