ABSTRACT

Mesotherapy is a medical technique for injecting a mixture of drugs in small quantities intradermally into a problem area. This technique was first developed by Dr Pistor in

1952. Since that time, many clinical indications have been developed by both the French and the International Mesotherapy Society, mostly in degenerative pathologies, as well as neurovegetative infectiology, rheumatology, sports injuries, otolaryngology, dermatology, and so on. Over the past few years, the use of mesotherapy for cosmetic conditions has increased. Body mesotherapy mainly concerns the treatment of excess fat and cellulite, weight and is also used for skin tightening. The products allowed for injection can be different

in different countries, in Europe or the USA or Asia. Some of them have disappeared from the market or approval, but then new active products have become available. This chapter aims to give a global description of them and their indications.
