ABSTRACT

The Evalve mitral valve repair procedure is a novel approach for leaflet repair for mitral regurgitation (MR).1-11 The potential for complications in this procedure remains largely unexplored territory, since this is a first in class and first-in-man effort, and no other parallel experience exists. The procedure is performed via transseptal catheterization. A guide catheter is placed in the left atrium above the mitral valve and used to steer the Evalve Mitraclip into position to grasp the mitral leaflets and create a double orifice, with resultant better approximation of the mitral leaflets and diminution of the degree of MR.
