ABSTRACT

With the advent of lung cancer screening, many nodules are being detected which have different radiographic appearances. Some of these nodules will be lung cancer depending on the study reviewed, and it is being recognized that the appearance of the nodules may be a harbinger for different biologic characteristics regarding their invasiveness and propensity for metastases. Surgeons are now considering whether these solid and partsolid nodules should have lung sparing if they prove to be early lung cancer, and these decisions are being guided not only by the size of the nodules but also by their radiographic appearance.
