ABSTRACT
It has been known for many years that diabetes has profound consequences on the cardiovascular system, leading to increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in diabetic patients [1]. In the last years, the completion of several large trials (acronyms listed and explained in table 1) allowed to gather critical information on the efficacy and safety of different drugs in patients with a variety of cardiovascular diseases.
