Revision ventriculoperitoneal shunt in a child with spina bifida (complicated by latex allergy)

Introduction Shunt procedures are the commonest paediatric neurosurgical operations, and frequently occur in the neonatal period. It is essential for the anaesthetist to be aware of all the possible complications associated with both the surgery and the underlying condition. Some of these complications are illustrated by the following case presentation.
