ABSTRACT

In certain cases of vaginal hysterectomy, the uterus may not be delivered intact as a result of enlargement, fixation, or limited exposure. When properly approached, most of these cases can, and should, be completed transvaginally because of the convalescent and cosmetic superiority that invariably result. Uterine morcellation, or debulking, by various methods offers a safe and efficient means by which to complete the vaginal procedure without undue difficulty.
