ABSTRACT

Sacrospinous colpopexy is a simple procedure by which the highest point of the vagina is fixed to the sacrospinous ligament. In recent years there has been increasing concern with the problem of recurrent pelvic support defects. This is the result of an increase in life expectancy and a growing interest in maintaining the capacity for sexual activity beyond the menopause; in addition the modern woman will not now accept the distressing and embarrassing symptoms of genital prolapse.
