ABSTRACT

Contraceptive preparations play an important role in the management of menstrual disorders. Since their discovery in the 1960s, hormonal contraceptives have held great promise as an answer to menstrual disturbances. The therapeutic use of estrogens and progestins is widespread, and, although used primarily to prevent pregnancy, they also have significant health benefits beyond contraception. Their popularity in part stems from their widespread availability, acceptance, and familiarity of use.
