ABSTRACT
The red blood cell (RBC) is unique among eukaryotic cells in that its principal physical structure is its membrane, which encloses a concentrated haemoglobin solution. Unlike other cells, the RBC has no cytoplasmic structures or organelles, and does not have a nucleus.
