ABSTRACT

Many authors have reported many cases of endometriosis of the bladder,1-9 with a particularly complete review of the literature after 1945 by Abeshouse.10 Early reports frequently described the lesion as an adenomyoma of the bladder to reflect the histopathology seen under the microscope, with endometrial-like glands and stroma imbedded in fibromuscular metaplasia. Essentially, all reported cases represent spontaneous occurrence, and invasive bladder disease frequently coexists with significant invasive disease of the posterior pelvis. A case of full-thickness bladder endometriosis after Cesarean section has been reported,11 although there was no intraoperative bladder injury.
