ABSTRACT

Nebulizer therapy is useful in the delivery of inhaled medication to children and adults. Although nebulizer therapy is commonly used there remain many variations in practice. Where nebulizers are used, careful attention should be paid to optimizing delivery by selecting an appropriate nebulizer and correct use of equipment. Developing local nebulizer services following European standards should help eliminate current bad practice and improve the efficiency of nebulizer use. Audits may be performed to ensure these standards are maintained.
