ABSTRACT
A working knowledge of the management of poisoning in children is essential for all those involved in acute pediatric care. An estimated 52000 people attended Emergency Departments in the UK because of poisoning in 1997, the majority of whom were children. This chapter deals with the general principles of the management of poisoning and offers guidelines for some of the more common or serious toxins.
