ABSTRACT

The understanding of how drugs work at the molecular level sometimes allows their use for indications quite diverse from the primary one. Aromatase Inhibitors represent such a group of drugs. Though these drugs have been known for over 2 decades, it is only recently that they have been applied to such diverse indications as breast cancer, infertility and endometriosis. To understand how this has come about, it is imperative that the physiological role of the enzyme aromatase is understood.
