ABSTRACT
Polycystic ovarian disease is still a relatively poorly understood and controversial entity, 60 years after its description by Stein and Leventhal.1 They described enlarged polycystic ovaries in conjunction with the clinical manifestations of menstrual irregularity, obesity and hyperandrogenism, which eventually became the polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
