ABSTRACT
In 1966 she had been diagnosed with thyrotoxicosis, which was treated medically for 2 years and then by thyroidectomy. Subsequently she remained well until the onset of jaundice in 1975. She was treated with weekly plasma exchanges for 2 months in 1977, without apparent benefit, and then with D-penicillamine but this was discontinued after 6 months because of side effects.
