ABSTRACT
I. INTRODUCTION Urinary incontinence can result from either detrusor or sphincteric dysfunction. Sphincteric dysfunction can be caused by either anatomic malposition of an intact sphincteric unit (urethral hypermobility) or a damaged urethral sphincter (intrinsic sphincter deficiency). Numerous surgical procedures have been devised to correct this life-altering disorder.
