ABSTRACT

JEFFREY S. BORER is the Gladys and Roland Harriman Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at The Joan and Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City, where he is also Professor of Radiology and of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Additionally, he is Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Pathophysiology at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Borer serves as a Consultant to the Food and Drug Administration and previously was Chairman of the FDA’s Cardio-Renal Advisory Committee (1981-82, 1983-87). He is also a member of the NASA Advisory Council and chairs the NASA-NIH Advisory Subcommittee on Biomedical and Behavioral Research. The author or coauthor of almost 300 journal articles and book chapters, Dr. Borer is a past president of the New York Cardiological Society and currently is president of the New York State Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. He received the B.A. degree (1965) in government from Harvard College, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the M.D. degree (1969) from Cornell University Medical College.
