I. CLINICAL RELEVANCE A. Definition Physicians, epidemiologists, researchers, and other health care professionals use the words trauma and injury interchangeably. The term injury seems to be more easily understood by the community at large. The word trauma derives from the Greek meaning ‘‘bodily injury’’ (1).
