ABSTRACT

Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) is the standard initial method of treatment for most displaced, unstable three-part proximal humerus fractures. Multiple types of fixation have been described, specifically intramedullary rods, intramedullary rods with cerclage wire or suture, blade plate, T-plate, and, finally, tension band fixation (1-9). Successful results have been described using all these methods, but certain methods have emerged as superior in terms of stability and complication rates.
