ABSTRACT

Tics are the most common form of movement disorder in childhood. It has been estimated that up to 24% of school-age children will experience tics at one time or another (1). Many will experience mild tics that will go undiagnosed because they are considered part of the child’s normal pattern of behavior. For many of these children, the tics will be transient and disappear spontaneously after several weeks or months. For others, the tics will persist for prolonged periods of time and become more complex and severe.
