Invasive Ultrasound Principles (Biopsy, Aspiration, and Drainage)

Reports have demonstrated the utility of ultrasound in avoiding complications of aspiration biopsy (9,10). Color sonography can help to identify vascular structures within the needle path (Fig. 4). Thus, the vascular complications encountered when performing interventional procedures should be decreased using color Doppler ultrasound. Color can be used during the procedure to identify any potential complications (Fig. 5).
