ABSTRACT

Fetal surgical procedures are increasing in number and frequency. A quantitative analysis of complication rates of fetal treatments is not possible with these relatively new treatment modalities. Outcomes of fetal surgeries are highly dependent on the expertise of the practitioner, and our overall degree of expertise is increasing as these treatments become more available. In addition, the techniques are constantly improving and the rates of complications are changing in kind. This summary is a compilation of cumulative experience in the field, anecdotes, discussions with colleagues, and a review of the literature.
