ABSTRACT
Improvements in immunosuppression and the refinement of surgical techniques have made pancreas transplantation an established therapeutic modality for patients with type I diabetes mellitus.
Unfortunately, a variety of complications can occur following pancreas transplantation. This chapter will focus on medical complications (see Chapters 16 and 18 through 20 for surgical, infectious, oncologic, and neurologic complications).
