ABSTRACT
Venous disorders have been recognized since ancient times, although real knowledge
came only with an understanding of the anatomy of the venous and lymphatic systems
developed over many centuries. This hard-won knowledge still underpins any modern
study of venous and lymphatic function in both health and disease.
