ABSTRACT
Animal models of infection have had a prominent place in the evaluation of infection and its treatment. From early experiments demonstrating transmission of infectious agents to satisfy Koch’s postulates to evaluation of chemotherapy in the antibiotic era, animal models have proven useful for understanding human diseases.
