ABSTRACT
A rectovaginal fistula is a congenital or acquired communication between the two epithelial-lined surfaces of the rectum and the vagina. A fistula between the anal canal distal to the dentate line and the vagina is not a true rectovaginal fistula but an anovaginal fistula.
