ABSTRACT

Abnormalities of gastrointestinal (GI) vasculature are diverse, and are often incidentally discovered during imaging, angiographic, and endoscopic studies performed for various reasons. Patients with such abnormalities are often asymptomatic; however, chronic blood loss resulting in anemia, and severe acute GI bleeding can also be modes of presentation (1). Recognition of such abnormalities and familiarity with diagnostic modalities and therapeutic options are essential in caring for such patients. In this chapter, we will review the vascular abnormalities that involve the colon (Table 1).
