ABSTRACT
An understanding of the pathophysiology of migraine should be based upon the anatomy and physiology of the pain-producing structures of the cranium integrated with knowledge of central nervous system modulation of these pathways. Headache in general, and in particular migraine (1) and cluster headache (2), is better understood now than the last four millennia (3). This chapter will discuss the current understanding of migraine.
