ABSTRACT

Osteopenia and osteoporosis are common medical problems in both patients with end-stage lung disease (1) and in posttransplant patients (2). Metabolic bone disease is a complication not only in lung transplant candidates, but also in patients who are candidates for other solid organs and in the recipients of those organs (3). Metabolic bone disease has also been identified as a complication of stem cell transplant recipients (4).
