ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION The scalp is a five-layered soft tissue structure extending from the external occipital protuberance and superior nuchal lines posteriorly, supraorbital margins anteriorly, and zygomatic arches laterally. The tissue of the scalp is composed of many different substances including hair follicles, sebaceous and sweat glands, collagen, elastin, blood vessels, nerve fibers, and lymphatics with mucopolysaccharide ground substance.
