ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Several axillary dermatoses for which medical or dermatologic treatment may be unsuccessful respond favorably to surgical management. They include axillary hyperhidrosis, apocrine bromhidrosis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and familial benign pemphigus (Hailey-Hailey disease). The essential pathogenetic and clinical features will be discussed here, followed by a description of the surgical therapy and its rationale.
