ABSTRACT

The ever-increasing availability and use of medical technology has created ethical, legal, and economic dilemmas that were unthinkable only a few years ago. The practice of medical science dictates what is possible, the law of the land dictates what is permissible, and medical, nursing, public, and academic consensus decides what is right and proper. Clinical management that is medically possible, legally permissible, or ethically right may be represented by three different courses of action. This may result in difficulty in clinical decision making.
