ABSTRACT
Morphologic studies have contributed considerably to our understanding of
crystal-induced arthritis. This chapter focuses on (i) findings in the joint while
also addressing pathologic features of gout at other sites, (ii) changes induced
by calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) crystal deposition, and (iii) the
pathologic changes associated with basic calcium phosphate (BCP) crystals.
