ABSTRACT
The PilobucTM pilocarpine buccal insert is a treatment for xerostomia. Xerostomia, or dry mouth, may be a result of Sjo¨gren’s syndrome, an autoimmune disease, or of certain treatments (e.g., head and neck radiotherapy), or medications. The condition distorts the patient’s senses of taste and smell and can lead to recurrent mouth infections and dental caries, causing severe discomfort and malnutrition in extreme cases (1).
