ABSTRACT
Implantable drug delivery systems provide a useful alternative to several current therapies for long-term treatment of chronic conditions. Such systems can free the patient from repeated treatment or hospitalization and can improve patient compliance and quality of life. In addition, implantable systems offer the potential for significantly reducing the cost of care.
