ABSTRACT

CHALLENGING CASE A 62-year-old man presents with blood per rectum. He has mild rectal discomfort with bowel movements and a feeling of incomplete evacuation. Two years previously he received external beam radiotherapy for prostate cancer. His rectal examination is normal except for some blood on the gloved finger. A flexible sigmoidoscopy demonstrates friable mucosa with neovascularity of the distal 4 cm of rectum. The mucosa is friable with telangectasia.
