ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION The fact that major psychiatric disorders tend to cluster in families has raised the question about the role of heredity in their manifestation. This question is not new, as since Kraepelin’s separation of major psychiatric disorders into schizophrenia and affective disorder empirical observations have shown that these disorders were frequently expressed in the families of affected persons (1).
