ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION The GxP environment has evolved in the past 15 to 20 years from a condition where computerized systems were largely limited to lab instruments and large centralized applications to one where not only is there a computer on every desk, but users are savvy enough to use them in innovative ways to make their lives easier. The amount of data that life science companies process and store has multiplied tremendously. This is partly due to the fact that we can now collect, process, and store far more data far faster, and partly due to growing data requirements from increased regulation by all sorts of governmental authorities. It is small wonder then that today’s more sophisticated users employ the desktop tools provided to them to help make sense of this vast datasphere.
