ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION Research into the renal effects of obesity is at a relatively early stage compared to some of the other consequences of increased body weight. Emerging data, however, suggests that the renal implications of obesity are likely to have signifi cant consequences for affected patients and bear consideration by the health care community.
