ABSTRACT

In stress urinary incontinence (SUI), to improve the extrinsic closing mechanism of the urethra, physiotherapy is especially aimed on strength improvement and coordination of the peri-urethral and pelvic floor muscles (PFMs). Treatment modalities are patient information and education, PFM training (PFMT), with or without biofeedback, electrical and magnetic stimulation, and vaginal cones. In particular, PFMT is effective.
