ABSTRACT

To some extent, the anatomic level of neurologic injury can predict the type of dysfunction. The three gross anatomic distinctions that predict effect on voiding function are cerebral (suprapontine), spinal (suprasacral), or peripheral (infrasacral). These levels will serve as a structure by which to examine different neurologic disorders and their voiding effects later in this chapter. Table 48.1 summarizes characteristic dysfunctions that result from known levels of injury as adapted from Wein (2) .
